Many organizations today have adopted business intelligence (BI) as a catalyst to meet specific \r\nbusiness needs and to improve organizational effectiveness. Although BI has become more \r\nrobust and pervasive, some organizations are still unable to maximize the return on their BI \r\ninvestments. One contributing reason is the lack of a good guiding BI architecture to support \r\nthe implementation of such a system. Having a solid architecture can help organizations to \r\nbetter control the implementation process as well as the operation of the entire BI \r\nenvironment. A review of the existing literature shows that although the importance of a good \r\nBI architecture is non-arguable, research in this area is still lacking. To fill the gap, this paper \r\nproposes a framework of BI architecture which consists of five layers: data source, ETL, data \r\nwarehouse, end user, and metadata layers. These five layers are essential to ensure high data \r\nquality and smooth information flow in a BI system....
The academic field of individual performance is concerned with a large range of multifaceted \r\nquestions regarding the prediction of individual performance, the assessment issue, or the \r\nenhancement and the keeping of a performance value. Current debates have emerged in call \r\ncenters context. Based on structuration theory, this paper tries to understand the process that \r\nleads to individual performance. A case study based on half structured interviews is made at \r\nââ?¬Å?TÃ?©lÃ?©performanceââ?¬Â. Results show that there are three kinds of determinants: (1) agent features, \r\n(2) technological structures and (3) non technological structures shape performance. The \r\nrelationship between agent features and structures is assumed to be recursive....
This article discusses the \"e-generations\" characteristics and the management tools and \r\nmethods capable of handling them. In particular, we take a look at how to get a better grip on \r\nthis generations values when faced with the issues of being attractive, recruitment, and \r\nemployee loyalty that many enterprises have to deal with. Much food for thought is offered on \r\nthese topics: establishing a new style of management (giving more meaning, handling the \r\nindividualism/collective paradox, fostering intergenerational management, etc) and adapting \r\nexisting tools (recruitment through social networks for instance);...
Much has been debated on the necessity of the better corporate disclosures on the issues affecting the\r\nstakeholders. This research provides an insight into the disclosures of plantation companies on the\r\nenvironmental preservation in relation to the earth, water and air (EWA). The study gauged the actual\r\nlevel of the corporate environmental disclosure (CERD) using National Annual Corporate Report Award\r\n(NACRA) checklist. We used the total land bank area occupied by a company to calculate the\r\nconcentration of plantation activities in order to determine the extent of CERD required from the\r\ncompanies. This approach discards the ââ?¬Å?one size fits allââ?¬Â approach to solve disclosure problem.\r\nPulpwire tool developed in this research can identify gaps in the required disclosure of the plantation\r\ncompanies and alert the companies to take necessary corrective actions....
Human factor comprises the most important element of any balanced and sustainable development. As\r\na result, educational institutions play a very crucial role in supplying todays societies with much\r\nneeded, adequately skilled and reasonably competent human resources. The main purpose of this\r\nstudy was to investigate how universities could be manipulated towards polishing entrepreneurial skills\r\nof their graduates. Based on Krejcie and Morgan sample size table, a group of 110 academics out of an\r\naccess population (N=382) of Bu-Ali Sina academic staff were randomly selected. A questionnaire was\r\ndesigned and then validated asking a panel of experts for their comments. Reliability of the instrument\r\ncalculated to be 0.90 in alpha Cronbachs scale. Results of the enquiry indicated that cooperation of\r\nuniversities with other local organizations (for example, outreach programs), elaborately directed\r\napprenticeship courses, up-to- date educational content (in response to cutting edge technologies) and\r\nuse of creativity- centered methods of teaching were mentioned to be the most effective enhancing\r\nentrepreneurial skills of graduates, according to BASU academic staff. An exploratory factor analysis\r\nthat followed revealed that a number of activities labeled as orientation and a group of variables named\r\nauxiliary proved to be the most and the least influential factors, respectively, towards having university\r\ngraduates with enhanced entrepreneurial skills....
Usage of internet among different clusters of users is increasing dramatically every day. Majority of the\r\ndaily activities of people occurs in social networks as statistics are shown. So, social networks play\r\nimportant roles in their lives. To meet needs of different users, we require different types of social\r\nnetworks. One of the important basic points for providing social networks is investigation for a suitable\r\nbusiness model according to its specific characteristics. Social networks and its stakeholders\r\ndemands are diverse, so for each type of social network, a proper business model is needed. Based on\r\nour knowledge, few studies have been done to investigate appropriate business models for each type\r\nof network especially in Iran, so in this paper, first Web-based business models were reviewed and\r\nranked based on their usage in different social networks due to our countrys circumstances.\r\nAccording experts idea, quality function deployment (QFD) model is used for prioritizing business\r\nmodels for various kinds of social networks. Shannon entropy is also used to determine the weight and\r\nsignificance of each model. Due to plurality of available business models, the ranking results of atomic\r\nbusiness models are presented. The results showed that the atomic business model has the highest\r\npriority for news and information social networks; on the other hand has the lowest appropriateness for\r\nspecialist social network....
